May 8, 2014 - You need to install the wifi driver in your HCL ME Notebook in order to your wireless connection to work.
Hello Sir, my laptop is of the Model ' HCL ME ICON L 1015' with Corei5 2510, 2.3 Ghz processor, 4GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM installed in it. I was having Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1 (64 Bit) OS installed in it.
2 Months before 29th July, 2015 I got the windows 10 Reserve icon and I reserved it. On 1st August, 2015 I upgraded it to windows 1o Pro through free upgrade offer of Microsoft. The upgradation was smooth and some of the previously installed applications didn't work with the new windows 10 Pro OS, but it was ok as I reinstalled them after upgradation.

But to my surprise when ever the laptop reboots (restarts) the screen becomes greyish black after the windows 10 icon appears, and I can't see any activity in screen thereafter. Every time I have to press the start button or sleep key on the keyboard and make the laptop to go to sleep mode. And once it goes to sleep mode if I press the same start button or sleep key, then log in screen appears and it allows me to work further. This start up black screen problem is not there when ever laptop starts from hibernation mode, sleep mode or starting after shutdown.
I had a chat with some of my friends they said its a graphics driver problem, but I installed the latest Intel HD Graphics 3000 driver from intel website, which gave me no solution from this problem. There is another issue I am facing after upgradation is that when ever touch pad driver ' synaptic pointing device driver' get installed automatically through windows updates my wifi function (Fn +F2) key doesn't work and if I uninstall the pointing devce driver the wifi function key works and Iit allows me to use internet through wifi.
There are so many touch keys on the keyboard for wifi, sound etc which some times works and some time don't work. The scroll area on touch pad also doesn't work. I am stuck up with this issue.
I loved the features of windows 10 but the above problems repeatedly makes me too annoyed to use this new OS. I was having zero problem when windows 7 ultimate was installed. Please guide me what to do.
I didn't find any latest driver from OEM sites (HCL laptop drivers) for windows 10. Thanking you in advance for a suitable guidance and awaiting for quick response. B P Sarangi, Kolkata, India. Hi, Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Before proceeding, please check if the same issue occur when logged in through a different user account. Ref: Please perform the below steps and see if it helps to resolve the issue.
This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow the below given steps:. Press Windows key + X, select Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt. In Command prompt type sfc/scannow and press enter.

Restart the computer. If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:. Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”. In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works. Hope this information helps.
Please post us if you need any further assistance with Windows. Thank you so much for quick response to my problems.
I tried with all options you have elaborated. But sorry to say the problem still persists.
The laptop blacks out after restart (not when starting after shutdown, starting after hibernation or starting after sleep mode). More over the 'wifi' goes out (not able to turn on with function keys) many a times after some windows driver updates for touch device or so are installed and after that when laptop reboots. More over above commands suggested by you resulted zero error (successful). I couldn't understand the actual problem. I have an HP LAPTOP at my office with older version motherboard (2009 model).
Still that laptop is running very smoothly after upgrading to windows 10. But to my surprise this HCL laptop which is a 2011 model with intel core i5 2nd gen cpu and HD300 graphics driver with so many features could only run very smoothly with windows 7 ultimate, not with windows 10 pro. Please guide whether i have to revert back to windows 7 ultimate or any fix may be suggested from Microsoft later on. If i go back to windows 7 can i reload windows 10 again.
Secondly if i purchase a new laptop without OS and try to validate this windows 7 ultimate license in that new laptop whether MS will allow me to that. So that i don't have to purchase new OS. Please guide. Thanking once again B P Sarangi (BP) BPS. Hi, I have the same model and upgraded to Windows 10 as a part of Microsoft free upgrade scheme, but I've noticed several issues while downloading and installing the OS over the wire and afterwards.
First, in the initial installation screen, the screen cut to black (grayish black as you mentioned) and I had to connect the output to an external monitor to see what's going on. However I was able to view it in there and complete the installation procedure(I was able to see the bios loading screen on my laptop screen while the system restarted). Secondly, After the installation was complete and windows 10 loaded up,(I had to go through sleep-wake to view it on my laptop screen) I logged in with my credentials and initiated the desktop environment. Thereafter, I noticed, Wi-Fi is off but the soft key is enabled. I tried to switch on Wi-Fi but I didn't turn on. I searched in settings and found the Wi-Fi button automatically turning off itself whenever I tried to switch on and bluetooth was never detected.
While working with this suddenly I noticed, my Laptop touchpad scroll is not working( I was using a mouse till then but the touchpad worked as a pointing device). I tried to reinstall the drivers from HCL drivers site but nothing was there (not even for Windows 8). I searched elsewhere and found some from other sites, which eventually didn't turn up well and messed up the initial driver installation( at that time my Wi-Fi card was not even detected and there was no response from touchpad). I tried to fix the issue from various sites and continued this till next 1 day but there was very little help anywhere. I decided to roll back to Windows 7 (Wish I tried the commands mentioned by Mr. Sagnik before doing so) as I had pending work and that's all.
The roll back to Windows 10 is possible at any time as claimed by Microsoft. ( It stores the installation files in your system). However I do not see any possibilities to upgrade it to Windows 10 by anytime soon.
